Wishful Thinking

Bernard Slattery writes:

Jeez, Bruce Springsteen's promoters must be tearing out their hair. With Dubya enjoying 50 per cent support in the general population and probably considerably more among the male, working class who heavily populate Springsteen's audience, the singer has called from the stage for Bush's impeachment. Springsteen, who hasn't written or sung a decent song since the E Street Shuffle Days, opined: "It's time to impeach the president and get a man in there to get us out of this mess."

Given the trends in Bush's approval polls (consistently downwards - unless he's invading somewhere, or just after 9/11), Slatts is deluding himself. Wouldn't be the first time.
