Crocodiles and Kids

My vote for the most played up and over-rated story of the week is Steve Irwin (aka. the Crocodile Hunter) nearly feeding his infant son to a croc in front of a live audience.

As far as I can tell, his son wasn't in any danger. Crocodiles are pretty predictable animals, and someone with Steve's experience is about as safe as they come (at least, that's what I've been told by a warden in a nature park).

However, in a funny sort of way, Steve is a victim of his own success. He's a showman who gives his viewers a taste of what they want. A dangerous animal. And as a showman, just perhaps, he hypes the danger, just a little bit.
